Bard part number 8402-092 is an OEM thermal cutoff (G5AM0400104) used as a one-time, fail-safe overtemperature protector in Bard HVAC equipment. When abnormal heat builds up from restricted airflow, heater issues, or other fault conditions, this cutoff is designed to open the circuit to help prevent component damage and reduce the risk of overheating. If your unit has been shutting down on safety or a technician has confirmed an open thermal cutoff, replacing 8402-092 restores the original factory safety function, but the underlying cause of overheating should be corrected before putting the unit back into service.
