Bard part 8408-019 is an OEM defrost sensor used with Bard defrost control 621-1230 on heat pump applications to monitor coil temperature and help the control board initiate and terminate defrost at the proper time. A properly working sensor helps prevent outdoor coil ice buildup, supports stable heating performance, and reduces nuisance lockouts caused by incorrect temperature feedback. When replacing, confirm your unit’s model and control board part number, then mount the sensor in the factory location on the outdoor coil and reconnect the lead exactly as originally routed to ensure accurate sensing and reliable defrost operation.
