Bard part number 8554-011 is an OEM thermocouple assembly commonly used on Bard gas heat sections to prove pilot flame and keep the gas safety circuit energized. This 24 inch lead thermocouple generates a millivolt signal when heated by the pilot flame, helping prevent nuisance shutdowns and supporting safe burner operation when the pilot is stable. If your Bard unit has a standing pilot that lights but will not stay lit, or drops out shortly after releasing the gas valve knob, replacing the thermocouple is a standard first step.
