Bard TEC40 is an OEM electronic lead/lag controller designed to run a staged cooling system from a single thermostat while rotating the lead unit to help balance runtime across multiple wall-mount air conditioners. Per Bard installation literature, the TEC40 supports multiple operating modes for multi-unit applications (including three and four unit configurations) and is intended for use on groups of like-equipped units, meaning the connected units should all be either with economizers or all without economizers for proper sequencing. This control helps maintain redundancy in critical spaces by automatically bringing additional units on as demand increases, and it includes a manual lead-change push-button plus selectable changeover timing with a built-in test mode for faster verification during service.
